Yaamba Rest Area

Located right beside the Bruce Highway Yaamba Rest Area is a free short term campsite in the Livingstone Region of Queensland.

It is a very popular rest stop that also operates as a Driver Reviver centre during holiday periods. It can be quite busy and because of it’s closeness to the road, can also be quite noisy but it is a good place to stop for an overnight stay.

Yaamba Rest Area has a large sealed surface that is most suitable for caravans and motorhomes but it is not unusual to see tents pitched on the gassed area between the bitumen surface and the fence that borders Joan Tierney Park which is right beside the rest area. The facilities at the Yaamba Rest Area are actually in the park and include toilets, picnic tables, BBQ’s, rubbish bins, water tap but it is not suitable for drinking and pets are ok.

This rest area is a combined motorist and heavy vehicle rest area with easy access just off the highway where trucks, motorists, and caravans can stop and take a break.

There is some mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!

The maximum time limit for staying here is 20 hours.

Rest areas are there for you to stop and rest, making your trip safer and more enjoyable. Rest areas are not long-term camping sites, however motorists are able to take extended rest breaks at some sites. Rules on the length of stay at rest areas vary between controlling authorities. Check with the authority responsible for the relevant rest area for more information. Heavy vehicle rest areas are only for heavy vehicles.
