Rainbow Reserve

Located about 17km east of Goondiwindi on the Border Rivers Tourist Drive (Kildonan Road), Rainbow Reserve is a free short term campsite near the Dumaresq and McIntyre Rivers.

A scenic spot, the reserve is great for camping and fishing and there is a dirt boat ramp that will easily handle most tinnies. The area is also a good place for canoeing and swimming although it can get a bit muddy at the waters edge. There is a lot of open space to set up camp here but there is not a lot of shade and there can be a problem with mosquitoes at times. There are no facilities at Rainbow Reserve so it is only suitable for self contained camping.

To get to Rainbow Reserve from the Goondiwindi Post Office, travel east on Marshall Street to the large roundabout and take the 3rd exit (Border Rivers Tourist Drive). 17km from the roundabout the road comes to within 50m of the river and just before the turnoff to Eukabilla Rd (to the left/north) is the boat ramp.
