Lake Liddell Recreation Area
Located 15Km south of Muswellbrook on Hebden Rd (off the New England Higway), Lake Liddell Recreation Area is a low cost camping area with good facilities.
There are some powered sites here (4 at the time of writing), and there are plenty of grassy no powered sites as well. Lake Liddell has a large range of birds and is the only inland breeding area for black swans. The park also offers water sports and swimming and is home for many fish, including large carp.
There is a train line not far from the park that is used by coal trains which can create a bit of noise at times. There are also two power stations that can be seen from the park, but all in all it is not a bad place to camp for the price.
There is some mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here.
Dogs are welcome here but conditions apply so check with the managers before arriving.
Facilities at Lake Liddell Recreation Area include:
- Toilets
- Showers
- Disabled Access
- Water (not suitable for drinking)
- Picnic Tables
- BBQ’s
