Petrie Park Rest Area

This rest area is on the banks of the Mary River and can be found by following the signs from the highway 2k north of Tiaro and turning immediately right after crossing the railway bridge. there are a lot of tall shade trees. It is a well cared for park but the designated camping area is only with limited level parking spots and a steep entry point that may cause a few problems for larger vehicles. The signage states that the camping area is only for “Self Contained RV’s and Vans”.

Facilities at the park include picnic tables, wood barbecues, toilets, water, boat ramp and dogs are allowed.

The maximum allowable stay at Petrie Park is 20 hours but it is a very relaxing place with pleasant surroundings. It is also a koala habitat and they can often be seen in the park’s eucalyptus trees.
