Longreach Waterhole Apex Riverside Camp

Located 4km north of Longreach just off the Landsborough Highway, Longreach Waterhole Apex Riverside Camp is a low cost camping area in the Longreach Region of Central West Queensland.

The camping area is close to an old, unused bridge across the Thomson River and is large and very open and can take the biggest rigs. There is no power, potable water or showers so it is best suited to those travellers that are fully self contained. The majority of the surface at the campsite is river clay which can become very dusty in dry weather and very sticky when it rains. It is probably best to avoid this camp in wet weather. You must set up camp at least 20m away from the adjacent Picnic Area where the toilets, BBQ’s and picnic tables with shelters are located.

Longreach Waterhole (Apex Riverside Camp) is a very popular camp and can fill up quickly especially in peak tourist season.

To get here from Longreach, take the Landsborough Highway towards Winton for 4km and then turn east and follow the road to the motocross track. The camping area is on the left hand side by the river.

The camp is no longer free but incurs a small fee that is payable at the Longreach Visitor Information Centre.

There is some mobile phone service (depending on your carrier) and television reception here.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!
