Leichhardt Lagoon Camping Park

Leichhardt Lagoon Camping Park is a low cost campsite located just 24kms sout east of Normanton on the Gulf Development road (part of the Savannah Way) in the Carpentaria Region of North West Queensland.

This lovely camping area is on private property and is part of a small station and offers a large camping area only 800m off the highway in a natural bush setting near the Norman River. There are plenty of shady places to camp and the setting is very scenic but if can be dusty at times. Also on offer are hot showers, flushing toilets and amazing sunsets. There are no powered sites available here but generators are allowed which can make things a little noisy if there are a lot of people camping. You must report to the caretakers on arrival and there are not EFTPOS facilities avialable so make sure you have some cash. It is also a good idea to fill up with water before arrival as there is no water available on site.

If planning to visit Leichhardt Lagoon Camping Park in the winter months it is a good idea to phone ahead and reserve a spot as it is a very popular place at that time of year. The campsite is closed during the wet season.

There is good fishing close by in the river just across the road, but watch for crocs!

There is some mobile phone service here, but it will depend on your carrier.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!
