Burke River

Located 5km north east of Boulia behind the race track where the annual camel races are held, the Burke River bush camp is a free short term campsite in the Boulia Region of Central West Queensland.

There are no facilities at this campsite so you need to be self sufficient if you are going to stay here, but if your setup fits the bill it is a tranquil area with shady sites along the western bank of the Burke River. If travelling in bigger rigs you need to be careful of the tight turns and overhanging trees as you get closer to the river.

Once at the race course, you will need to go to the left and follow the road where you will find plenty of campsites on the bank of the river. The track to the sites can get very muddy in wet weather making it unsuitable for conventional vehicles.

There is some mobile phone service here, but it will depend on your carrier.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!
