Bilyana Rest Area

Bilyana Rest Area is a free campsite located 21km north of Cardwell and 22km south of Tully on the western side of the Bruce Highway in the Cassowary Coast Region of Far North Queensalnd.

It is a very popular rest stop that also operates as a Driver Reviver centre during holiday periods. It can be quite busy and because of its closeness to the road, can also be a bit noisy but it is a good place to stop, break your journey and have a rest.

It has a bitumen surface with some grass and has plenty of room and shady spots but there is a railway line that runs behind it. It can get quite full in peak season but there is extra space a bit further into the rest area closer to the railway line. Trains don’t run through here all that often (maybe a couple of times a day) so the noise isn’t that much of an issue. This site would be suitable for most sized rigs.

There is some mobile phone service here, but it will depend on your carrier.
Dogs are welcome at this campsite but please be responsible!

The maximum time limit for staying here is 20 hours.
*Please obey any signs at the site regarding length of stays.

Please Note:
Rest areas are there for you to stop and rest, making your trip safer and more enjoyable. Rest areas are not long-term camping sites, however motorists are able to take extended rest breaks at some sites. Rules on the length of stay at rest areas vary between controlling authorities. Check with the authority responsible for the relevant rest area for more information. Heavy vehicle rest areas are only for heavy vehicles. This does not include caravans and motorhomes, they are for truck drivers only. (source: www.tmr.qld.gov.au)
